On May 8, 2024, Mayor Indya Kincannon joined leaders from across the state, to celebrate a major environmental milestone for Knoxville-based Holocene. The company demonstrated its first, direct-air capture pilot.
Their technology captures CO2 and they hope will become a model for carbon removal and management across the globe.
Holocene moved to Tennessee in October 2022 after finding a supportive and collaborative environment through the Innovation Crossroads program operated by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee’s Spark Innovation Center, LaunchTN and the City.
