Cybersecurity is increasingly more important and cyber scams are becoming more sophisticated. That’s why we are always looking for ways to protect you and to help you navigate the digital age more efficiently.
Check out these three updates that could save you time, money, and a big headache:
Quarterly Phishing Tests
We will continue with random phishing tests in the 3rd quarter. Although we are doing better percentage wise as a City, we still have greater than 50 people each quarter that would have fallen victim to an actual phishing attack. The messages that trip most people up are the fake financial messages that trick you into believing you have something wrong with your accounts and fake emails from City Departments that request you to comply with an information request. Phishing emails are the source for most ransomware attacks, financial frauds, and identity thefts. Be vigilant at work and at home!
Annual Cybersecurity Training
We will begin our annual cybersecurity campaign in September. Be on the lookout for an email from us saying you have been enrolled in training. The training will be informative and require less than 20 minutes to complete. Our cybersecurity auditors require that all City employees are trained annually.
City Private Wi-Fi Network
If available, you can connect your City Laptop directly to this network. Enter in your network user id and password when prompted. You will have additional bandwidth over the standard Public Wi-Fi and you will have access to all of your network drives without having to use the Forticlient VPN.
