Meet Nikki Crutcher!
She’s worked for the City for 21 years and is currently our Recreation Superintendent, which means she oversees the City's community centers, pools, arts center, senior centers, and dynamic recreation programming.
“In a nutshell, I work with a really great team," she says. "Together we develop and implement a variety of programs, recreation, and wellness opportunities for all ages in Knoxville."
Nikki was raised on Lookout Mountain, TN prior to moving to Knoxville 26 years ago.
One of the things that makes her the ideal Recreation Superintendent is that she loves sports and plays as many as she can.
"I've traveled the country playing softball in cities such as New Orleans, Long Beach, Virginia Beach, Tampa, Las Vegas, and many more," she says. She'll compete in the ASANA Women's World Series in Memphis in August.
As for the Crutcher family name... Nikki is the grandniece of the Rev. W.T. Crutcher who served Mt. Olive Baptist Church from 1935 until his death in 1985. He was active in civil rights actions in Knoxville and helped
integrate the Whittle Springs Golf and Social Club in 1961. The Crutcher Memorial Youth Enrichment After-School Program was founded in his honor in 1994. His name also graces the W.T. Crutcher KAT Maintenance and Operations Facility.
"We actually have an old family reunion photo taken at the church in the early 1980s," she says. "The Crutcher side of my family is very large!"
Nikki is making a name for herself in Knoxville and women's sports. We're rooting for you!
