As neighborhoods across the city get set to celebrate National Night Out on Oct. 1, 2024, City leaders are gearing up for a city-wide kick-off celebration.
This first-ever event will be held 4-6 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 1650 Huron Street, bringing residents together in one location, with free food, games, and giveaways in a party-like atmosphere.
The kick-off celebration is an opportunity for families to interact with our police officers and firefighters at our Public Safety Complex on Huron Street, explore City fire trucks and police vehicles, and attendees may even have the chance to try to soak some familiar faces in a dunk tank.
The celebration will start at 4 p.m., allowing community members to take part in the kick-off, and--if they choose--also participate in their own neighborhood-specific events later that evening.
“We are so excited to be able to offer an event that everyone can attend,” said Mayor Indya Kincannon. “National Night Out is a wonderful way for neighbors to get to know our police officers and firefighters, but not every neighborhood is able to plan their own celebration. I hope this city-wide kick-off party becomes an annual tradition.”
