Do you have fabric you are not using, or looking to pick up some for an upcoming project? Before you head out shopping, plan a visit to the South Knox Community Center.
That’s right, the Sustainable Fabric Workshop located inside the community center is stocked full of fabric remnants, sewing supplies, yarn and more—all waiting to be upcycled or repurposed.
Ann Jefferson oversees the program that includes everything you need for a project, including sewing patterns and machines.
Sustainable Fabric Workshop:
• Open to anyone Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 10 a.m -1 p.m.
• Serves 150–200 people a week
• Has grown from 3 volunteers to 30
• Accepting Donations (sewing machines, sergers, yarn, knitting & crochet items, irons, ironing boards, quilt & clothing fabric, wool, patterns, instruction books, etc.)
• They often make items and donate them to organizations like Quilts of Valor, local theatre companies, shelters, and more.
