City Taking Applications for Community, Opioid Grants

Posted: 01/23/2025
The City of Knoxville is now accepting applications for funding from two grant programs facilitated by Mayor Indya Kincannon’s office: Community Agency Grants (CAG) and Opioid Abatement Grants for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Community Agency Grants support non-profit organizations that help the City meet its goals and priorities in two categories: Arts & Culture and Community & Social Services. During Mayor Kincannon’s administration, more than $8 million in Community Agency Grants have supported local organizations that provide a variety of cultural enrichment programs and activities as well as health and wellness services that help create a thriving, resilient and equitable community.

Opioid Abatement Grants support local efforts to mitigate and prevent opioid addiction in Knoxville. States and local governments have received funds from the settlements with the makers, sellers, and distributors of opioids to address the addiction crisis in their communities. The City will allocate $300,000 in funds for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to continue to address the impact of opioid addiction in our community. When opioid grants were first available in the 2024-25 fiscal year, the City allocated $310,000 to qualifying agencies.

Groups applying for Community Agency and Opioid Abatement grants must operate within Knoxville city limits and be registered as charitable organizations with the Tennessee Secretary of State or have a current exemption. CAG applicants must have their 501c3 non-profit status for a minimum of 5 years. Opioid Abatement grant applicants must have their 501c3 non-profit status for a minimum of 2 years.

Application forms and information are posted at KnoxvilleTN.gov/CityGrants. New this year: CAG applications will be administered through the ZoomGrants online platform; technical assistance will be available. Signed applications are due Friday, Feb. 21, 2024, by 4 p.m. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
