Posted: 01/30/2025
On Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, the City of Knoxville Housing and Neighborhood Development Department will begin accepting applications from nonprofit agencies whose work supports key City objectives in two categories:

Supporting low- to moderate-income neighborhoods and households with decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities.

Reducing and preventing homelessness.

Applications will be available Jan. 31, at http://KnoxvilleTN.gov/Development to request funding for activities taking place during the 2025-2026 program year, which begins July 1:

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to fund activities that support the city’s high-priority needs. Those needs are currently being determined during a public-input process conducted by City staff to create the 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan; a draft of that plan will be available for public review and comment in April 2025. Draft priorities can be found at KnoxvilleTN.gov/ConsolidatedPlan.

The Homeless Grants Program
funds local agencies whose proposals help reduce and prevent homelessness with a combination of federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds and local dollars budgeted by the City of Knoxville.

Applicants must attend a technical assistance workshop to be eligible to apply. There are two options for each grant program. All meetings will be held at the Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Ave. Meeting times are listed below:
