The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) is on the lookout for its next class of dedicated firefighters, and its Spring Recruitment Expo helped ignite that spark for many aspiring recruits.
Held Feb. 26 at the Knoxville Expo Center, the event welcomed dozens of attendees eager to learn about careers in fire service.

Prospective firefighters met with KFD personnel, explored fire trucks and equipment, and gained insight into the hiring process, job expectations, and benefits of serving Knoxville.
Families joined in, too, with hands-on fire safety activities and demonstrations in the KFD Safety House.

Missed the event? It’s not too late to apply! KFD is still accepting applications for its next firefighter class. No prior experience is required, just a passion for public service and a commitment to protecting Knoxville.
Applications are available online at
KnoxvilleTN.gov/jobs.
If you know someone who would make a great firefighter, encourage them to apply!
Welcoming 15 New Firefighters to KFD!
While recruitment efforts continue, KFD also recently celebrated a major milestone, the graduation of 14 new firefighters and one firefighter from the Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport Authority after completing an intensive 18-week training program.
Nine of these graduates will continue their education in the City of Knoxville Fire Department EMT Basic School, further preparing them to serve the community. The others have already joined the ranks at KFD fire stations across the city, ready to respond when duty calls.
Congratulations to our newest firefighters! Their dedication and perseverance are an inspiration, and we are proud to have them serve Knoxville.
The next generation of Knoxville firefighters is forming now, help us spread the word and encourage those who have the heart for service to apply today!
