Due to the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, KUB will have road closures on
Main Street & State Street March 16-31.
KUB and its contractor, Garney Construction,
will close the intersection of Main Street and State Street starting Monday, March 16,
until Tuesday, March 31, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities
Upgrade Project.
Main Street from South Gay Street to South Central Street will
also remain closed through March 31. Traffic wishing to enter/exit the Dwight Kessel
Metropolitan Parking Garage should use State Street or West Hill Avenue. The on ramp
to James White Parkway from State Street will remain open. Traffic entering the First
Tennessee Plaza Parking garage should enter via Cumberland Avenue, and exit via
State Street. Temporary two-way traffic will be maintained on Cumberland Avenue
(between South Gay Street and the parking garage) for traffic entering the First
Tennessee Plaza Parking Garage ONLY.
Alternate routes include West Hill Avenue, Cumberland Avenue, South Gay
Street, South Central Street, and Walnut Street.
As work areas shift, follow up advisories
will be issued by KUB.
Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the
conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control
measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas.
Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use
extreme caution and expect temporary delays in these areas. More information on this
