Directions: From I-40, take the Alcoa Hwy exit; cross the J.E. "Buck" Karnes Bridge over the Tennessee River; turn right at the Cherokee Farm entrance and park near Amphitheater or continue on Alcoa Hwy. and turn right at the Marine Park and park; greenway spans from the Marine Park, along the shore of the Tennessee River, passes the UT Practice Golf Course and Cherokee Farm Innovation Campus and connects to the Neyland Greenway via the J.E. "Buck" Karnes Bridge.

The City of Knoxville section of the Knox/Blount Greenway is the first phase of a plan to provide a pedestrian connection from Knoxville south through Knox and Blount counties to the Great Smoky Mountains.








The two-mile Knoxville section spans from the south side of the J.E. “Buck” Karnes Bridge and ends at Knox County’s Marine Park. It follows the shore of the Tennessee River for most of its route and passes the University of Tennessee Practice Golf Course and the Cherokee Farm Innovation Campus. 

It connects to the north via the J.E. “Buck” Karnes Bridge to the Neyland Greenway across the river, bringing the total network of connected downtown greenways to 18 miles.

The project cost roughly $1.65 million and was funded through a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Enhancement Grant of $1.45 million (including a City match of $330,000) and a supplemental TDOT Alternatives Grant of $200,000. 

Land easements were obtained from the University of Tennessee, the Department of the Navy, Knox County, TDOT and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
