Christmas tree collection in the City is the same process as for brush collection. After all decorations have been removed, trees should be placed at the street for collection. Please note that Public Service Department crews will be concentrating on leaf collection and will pick up brush and Christmas trees as time allows. The regular two week schedule for brush will not begin until February 1st, depending on the area of the City.
Christmas Tree Recycling at Ijams
Recycle your Christmas Tree at Ijams, 2915 Island Home Ave., thru January during normal business hours. Trees should be dropped off across the road from Meads Quarry in the overflow parking lot - look for signs.
When donated, your tree will either be left intact to provide shelter for critters or it will be chopped into mulch to maintain their trails. Just bring your tree to Ijams during park hours and place it, free of lights, ornaments, ribbons or tinsel, across from the Meads Quarry parking lot in the overflow lot. This location is past the entrance to Ijams across the railroad tracks immediately on the left.
Knox County Treecycling Program
City residents can also take advantage of the County's Treecycling program. After the New Year, Knox County residents can bring their unwanted, live Christmas trees to participating Knox County Convenience Centers for free disposal.
Knox County residents will be able to drop off trees throughout the entire month of January at no cost. Trees must be cleaned of all ornaments, lights, wire, string and other decor before bringing them to a center.
