Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch today named Officer Dan Paidousis the May Officer of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department.  Officer Paidousis has been with the department since January 1991.

On May 9, 2016, Investigator Paidousis traveled to the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton, Tennessee to speak in opposition to the potential parole of Barry Eugene Evans.  Evans is well known to Knoxville Police officers because of his violent past and extensive criminal history.  Evans has 14 convictions in Knox County including 6 violent felony convictions that include Murder, Robbery, 2-Aggravated Robbery convictions, Assault and Carjacking.  

If released, Evans would be sure to return to our community where he would undoubtedly become a predator in our neighborhoods.  He would eventually have to be dealt with again by law enforcement, and as his history shows, would violently oppose any attempt to take him into custody.

Chief Rausch said, “Due to Investigator Paidousis’ professionalism, demeanor, and solid testimony, it has been recommended that Evans not be paroled and that he remain incarcerated at least until his next opportunity for parole in 2020.”

This is not the first time that Investigator Paidousis has done our department and city a great service in this manner.  Since 2010, Paidousis has represented KPD at 60 opposition hearings, and of those 60, 57 have been ordered to remain in custody.  That is a 95% success rate that has unquestionably kept our citizens and officers safer as these dangerous criminals are kept behind bars.
