Public Meeting June 9 to Discuss Large Utilities Upgrade for Downtown Knoxville

Posted: 06/03/2014
June 3, 2014 - KUB is scheduling significant upgrades in the downtown area over the next 15 months. We are trying to proactively communicate with downtown businesses, residents and stakeholders as:

Lane/sidewalk closures will be necessary Alternative means of access to businesses, offices and parking On-street parking will be restricted from time-to-time Temporary natural gas and water service interruptions may be necessary in the State Street area Temporary decreases in water pressure may occur

CBID and KUB will host a public meeting on Monday, June 9, at 6 p.m. at the Knoxville Chamber offices, located at 17 Market Square, to discuss an upcoming Century II utilities upgrade project scheduled to begin in July 2014, with completion expected for October 2015.

Representatives from KUB Water System Engineering will give a brief presentation outlining the scope of the project and the construction process that will upgrade sections of water and wastewater mains, as well as smaller sections of natural gas mains and underground electric systems equipment.

Following the presentation, KUB representatives will be available to talk with customers one-on-one regarding their specific concerns.

Additional information about the project is available at www.kub.org.
