Directions: From I-40, the 17th Street exit; head north to Western Avenue; turn left onto Western (heading west); go approximately 2 miles; at railroad tracks, turn left onto Keith Avenue; go approximately half of a mile and turn right onto Richmond Hill Road; park will be on left.
Buck Toms Park consists of 5 acres of open space and was donated to the City of Knoxville to provide a place for children in the Lonsdale Community to play.
HISTORY OF THE PARK
The park is named for Knoxville native William Perry “Buck” Toms (1884-1965), who is renowned for his involvement with the education and development of young people. Buck Toms is considered the “Father of Scouting” for the Boy Scouts of America’s Great Smoky Mountain Council. Toms established the first Boy Scout troop in Tennessee.
PARK RULES & REGULATIONS
1.) For the protection of our park and the safety of its users, the following are prohibited:
- No alcoholic beverages
- No open fires
- No hitting golf balls anywhere in the park
- No motorized vehicles in park
- No equestrian activity
2.) Per city ordinance, all animals must be maintained on a leash.
3.) Please be respectful of other trail users.
4.) Please help to keep our parks beautiful by disposing trash in proper receptacles.
5.) Hours - Open dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted.
