CHRISTENBERRY COMMUNITY CENTER PROGRAMS

After School Program: A free service for parents of children ages 6-12.  The program operates from 2:45 pm - 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, on the Knox County School schedule.  Participants enjoy gym games, arts and crafts, board games and Community School clubs and classes.  Children come straight from Christenberry Elementary School and have a snack once attendance is checked.

Community Schools/Great Schools Partnership:  Children in the After School Program are offered tutoring, clubs and special classes.  E.g.  Girls on the Run, Legomania, KMA Art Appreciation, Coding, Lego Car Frenzy, Joy of Music, Heart and Soul, Gardening, Junior Achievement, Young Bankers' Club, Math Club, Stem Scouts, Track Club and many more offerings throughout the year.

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports and has a multi-generational appeal.  This game is a hybrid of Ping Pong and Tennis.  It is played either indoors or outdoors with a paddle, a net lower than tennis, a court smaller than tennis and a whiffle-type ball.  Three courts can be set up simultaneously at Christenberry.

Table Tennis has been watched by over 500 million people in recent Olympics.  Table Tennis is among the most popular sports around the world.  At the highest competition level, the sport demands the physicality of a kung fu master, the mind of a chess master, and the agility of a tap dancer.  From beginner to tournament level players, our Table Tennis program welcomes everyone to play this sport.  If you think you have what it takes to be a good table tennis player, come check us out!

Rocky Top Taekwondo:  Utilizing traditional taekwondo, this Coong-Si Federation approach focuses on self-discipline, strength, conditioning and flexibility.  Classes are appropriate for ages 5 through adult.  Families are welcome!  For more information about the class, call Matt Sheah at 865-282-9803.

Open Gym:  This is a time for teens and adults in the community to come to the center for pick-up basketball games.
