People and dogs equally love this park! Runners and walkers love the paved and natural surface trails. Sport players love the multiple soccer and football fields. A dual court for sand volleyball. Disc golfers love the sprawling tournament quality 18-hole course. Kids love the large playground and greenway - perfect for bicycles, skates and scooters. Anglers have water access for fishing. And the dogs think being off leash in their very own dog park is super fun!

Combine all this with pavilions, picnic facilities, concession stand and restrooms and Victor Ashe Park is the place to go to enjoy multiple venues. A connector trail links the Victor Ashe Greenway to the Northwest Greenway which gives access to the amenities at the Northwest Middle School Park. Pleasant Ridge Greenway that parallels Pleasant Ridge Road allows users to make a full loop around the two parks.

Dogwood Dog ParkDOGWOOD PARK

Dogwood Park in Victor Ashe Park is Knoxville's first off-leash dog park.

Dogwood Park is completely fenced, and features a puppy playground, which includes an inclined hill, a tunnel, a puppy jump, and even a water fountain made for dogs.

Beautiful hardwoods surrounding this one-acre off-leash dog park create a nice retreat where canine friends can enjoy ramps, tunnels and jumps and then refresh at the doggy fountain. People benches are provided.

HISTORY OF THE PARK / GREENWAY

The park is named in honor of Victor Henderson Ashe II who served as Mayor of Knoxville from 1987 to 2003. Ashe was an avid supporter or parkland in the city, and during his tenure, parkland increased from 700 acres to 1,700 acres and 30 miles of greenway was added. Ashe was awarded a Cornelius Amory Pugsley Medal by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in recognition of his work on greenways and public parks. Ashe later served as United States Ambassador to Poland.
