KPD’s Mobile Field Force Commended for Outstanding Dedication to Safety and Security of Community Events

Posted: 03/08/2018
Mayor Rogero, Chief Rausch, and KPD Mobile Field UnitKnoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch awarded the department’s Mobile Field Force a Unit Commendation for their dedication to safety and security during multiple events in 2017.

The Mobile Field Force (MFF) is currently comprised of 26 members who are divided into three squads.

During 2017, Mobile Field Force personnel deployed 80 times.  Fourteen of these deployments were for additional security at City of Knoxville special events or other events with dignitaries in attendance.  In all, 456 positions were filled by MFF officers on deployments during the course of the year.

For the eighth year, the Mobile Field Force was charged with staffing Cumberland Avenue on all eight Friday and Saturday evenings of home University of Tennessee Football games.  This year’s game day deployment also added 4 Mobile Field Force officers on bicycles two hours prior to kickoff.  Assignment of the Mobile Field Force to Cumberland Avenue relieved patrol shifts of the assignment and promoted consistent enforcement of order maintenance issues in the Cumberland Avenue area.  The Mobile Field Force also conducted seven crowd control training sessions for Recruit Class 2017-A for a total of 23 hours of training.

Chief Rausch said, “The superior results achieved by The Mobile Field Force has resulted in the unit becoming an integral part of the department’s safety plan.  We congratulate them on a job well done.”
