CORRIDOR G - FIRST CREEK GREENWAY - NORTH KNOX
Corridor Route Description
The Corridor G greenway corridor is approximately 1.23 miles in length and links the Mineral Springs/Walker Boulevard intersection to Edgewood Park. At its northern limit the Corridor G greenway trail begins at the intersection of Mineral Springs Avenue and Walker Boulevard. The trail generally runs parallel to First Creek for approximately 0.43 miles as an off-street greenway trail from Mineral Springs Avenue to the vicinity of the Walker Boulevard and Clearview Street intersection. The trail crosses Walker Boulevard at this intersection. West of Clearview Street, Walker Boulevard is re-designed to eliminate the frontage roads and provide a 10-foot sidepath on each side of the roadway. The trail proceeds along Walker Boulevard approximately 0.22 miles to the location of the existing KUB easement. The trail turns and proceeds as an off-street greenway trail within the KUB easement for approximately 0.12 miles to the Fairmont Boulevard right-of-way. From the intersection of the KUB easement and Fairmont the greenway proceeds westward along the north side of Fairmont as a neighborhood connector (8-ft wide sidewalk with on-street bicycle designation) to the intersection with Ocoee Street, a distance of approximately 0.24 miles. The greenway crosses Fairmont and runs along the west side of Ocoee Street where it proceeds approximately 0.22 miles to Edgewood Park.
Demolition in this corridor will include but not be limited to curb, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, asphalt, and fencing removal at selected locations along with some storm drainage demolition and replacement. Utility relocation is anticipated in the re-built section of Walker Boulevard. The typical trail cross section shall be 2” asphalt over 6” base stone. Curb ramps and greenway trail crosswalk pavement markings are provided at all street crossings. Sitework will include curb and gutter, asphalt roadway and storm drainage improvements. One pedestrian bridge is proposed over an unnamed tributary to First Creek.
Greenway Connectivity
The Corridor G corridor is the northernmost section of the First Creek Greenway. This segment of the First Creek Greenway will link sections of the greenway south of I-640 with proposed future greenway projects north of I-640.
