KAT Public Meeting Set for July 24th

Notice is hereby given that the Knoxville Transportation Authority (KTA) will hold a public hearing during its meeting on July 24, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City-County Building, 400 Main Street, Knoxville, Tennessee, for the purpose of considering public comment, both written and oral, on the proposed list of options for increasing revenues and/or decreasing expenses in the Knoxville Area Transit operating budget. Interested persons are encouraged to participate in the process. Comments may be sent in advance of the meeting to the offices of KAT, 1135 Magnolia Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37917; Email through the KAT Website at www.katbus.com; or by telephone at 865-215-7800.

Comments submitted in advance of the meeting by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, will be read into the minutes at the meeting. This notice is published in accordance with the Federal Transit Act, as amended, and regulations pursuant thereto, and grant agreements between the Federal Transit Administration, Tennessee Department of Transportation and the City of Knoxville.

Included in the list of service adjustment options to be considered are: Effective August 18, 2008:

An increase in the fare for football shuttles from $4 to $5 round trip Re-introduction of the transit advertising program, including buses, benches, and shelters Increasing the charter rate from $70 per hour to $100 per hour 100X - Halls Express discontinued, unless additional revenue sources are identified 102X - Farragut Express discontinued, unless additional revenue sources are identified Route 43 - University Heights Apartments discontinued, unless full operational costs funded. Route 44 - Gateway at Knoxville Apartments discontinued, unless full operational costs funded. LIFT service (paratransit service) area contained within the required - mile of current transit routes

Effective January 12, 2009:

Late Line Trolley service discontinued All Sunday service discontinued Route 15 - West Town Express discontinued Route 12C - Western Avenue Combination route on Saturdays reduced to service every hour.
