Downtown Knoxville
Directions: Take Cumberland Avenue east to 11th Street. Turn left at the light onto 11th Street; then turn right onto Clinch Avenue. At the first left turn onto World's Fair Park Drive. The park will be on your left across from the Knoxville Museum of Art.
The new Fort Kid Park opened on March 6, 2023.
This elaborate urban playground is in Downtown Knoxville located between the Victorian Houses and the Knoxville Museum of Art.
With its new accessible play surface, fort tower and slide, climbing and balancing poles, fully-accessible merry-go-round, toddler play area, new, full-accessible pathway, and new site grading and soil enhancements, Fort Kid is a popular destination for school, church and daycare groups. The Knoxville Museum of Art (free to the public) is across the road from Fort Kid plus the Sunsphere and
World's Fair Park is only a short distance away. World's Fair Park also includes a playground, water play fountains and open space.
Fort Kid is maintained by the Public Building Authority (PBA).
HISTORY OF PARK
The original play structure was built by volunteers with the leadership and vision of Beth Waters during the city's 1991 Bicentennial. Celebration.
