Directions: Take James White Parkway off of I-40; stay on James White as it curves to the left; get off onto Riverside Drive before crossing the bridge; park will be on the right directly under the bridge.

Governor Ned McWherter / Riverside Landing Park is a favorite for water access to the Tennessee River and is located below James White Parkway. James White Greenway connects the park to Morningside Park and Volunteer Landing.

The dock at Gov. Ned McWherter / Riverside Landing Park is owned and maintained by the Knoxville Rowing Association. NOTE: This dock is not available for special event use.

HISTORY OF PARK

Ned Ray McWherter (1930-2011) was a businessman, farmer, and politician who served as the 46th Governor of Tennessee from 1987 to 1995.  Prior to that, he served as Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1973 to 1987, the longest tenure as Speaker at that time.

PARK RULES & REGULATIONS

1.) For the protection of our park and the safety of its users, the following are prohibited:
  • No alcoholic beverages
  • No open fires
  • No hitting golf balls anywhere in the park
  • No motorized vehicles in park
  • No equestrian activity
2.) Per city ordinance, all animals must be maintained on a leash.
3.) Please be respectful of other trail users.
4.) Please help to keep our parks beautiful by disposing trash in proper receptacles.
5.) Hours - Open dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted.
