Street Closures are as follows:
Humes Street/Depot Avenue: will be closed to through traffic from Jackson Avenue to Randolph Street for approximately 2.5 weeks for reconstruction beginning at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007. The contractor is to provide access to the local businesses.
Central Avenue Closure: Central Avenue between Fifth Avenue and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from 9:00 p.m. Monday night, June 25, 2007 to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 26, 2007 so that the contractor can pour concrete on the new I-40 Bridge.
Washington Avenue Closure: The contractor is scheduled to close Washington Avenue between North Sixth Avenue and Mitchell Street from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007 for reconstruction. The detour will be Winona Street, to Fifth Avenue, to Hall of Fame Drive.
Willow Avenue Closure: Willow Avenue between Central Street and Patton Street is closed to through traffic until July 2, 2007. The purpose of the closure is to lower Willow Avenue under James White Parkway, which includes grading, storm drainage, curb and gutter, paving and sidewalk installation.
James White Parkway: is closed and is scheduled to re-open the end of September 2007. The newly constructed Hall of Fame Drive (Exit 389) is the detour route.
Church Avenue Bridge Closure: The Church Avenue Bridge was closed on December 4, 2006 for reconstruction. The new bridge is expected to be completed in September 2007.
Magnolia Avenue: between Broadway and Central Street is open to one way traffic eastbound. It is scheduled to be open to two-way traffic late summer 2007.
Fourth Avenue Closure: Fourth Avenue is closed between South Luttrell Street and Gill Avenue. The detour is S Luttrell Street to Gill Avenue to Fourth Avenue. This section of Fourth Avenue is a permanent closure. Relocated Fourth Avenue to Gill Avenue will be built after the interstate is closed in 2008.
I-40 Closure: I-40 will be closed to through traffic for 14 months beginning the first of May 2008. The closure will be from east of the James White Parkway exit EB to the new Hall of Fame Drive exit WB a distance of less than a mile. Through traffic can use I-640. Local traffic can access the downtown and UT area via Hall of Fame Drive for traffic coming from the east and James White Parkway for traffic coming from the west.
City Street Lane Closures for the week of June 25, 2007
Motorist should be alert for a lane closure at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Gay Street Monday through Saturday, June 25 – June 30, 2007 for water line work. Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane closures on Boruff Street in the area of the I-40 overpass for bridge work. Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane closures on Jackson Avenue from Patton Street to Morgan Street Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane closures on Cherry Street in the area of the I-40 overpass for bridge work. Motorists should be alert for a lane closure on Fifth Avenue from Lamar Street to Hall of Fame Drive. Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane closures on Broadway from Depot Avenue to Fifth Avenue for bridge work. Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane closures on Gay Street from Magnolia Avenue to Fifth Avenue for bridge work. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and changing conditions on Magnolia Avenue between Central Street and east of Jessamine Street. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and traffic shifts on Central Street between Magnolia Avenue and Fifth Avenue and on Central Street under the Church Street Bridge. There will be a lane closure for milling and paving from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 to Saturday, June 30, 2007 on the following city streets:
- Jackson Avenue from Central Street to Humes Street
- Patton Street from Willow Avenue to Jackson Avenue
