The
International Codes (I-Codes), developed by the International Code Council, are a family of fifteen coordinated, modern building safety codes that help ensure the engineering of safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. The I-Codes have been designed so that they do not unnecessarily increase construction costs and can allow for the use of new materials, products or methods of construction.
The City of Knoxville has adopted several of the I-Codes, the National Electrical Code, and the ANSI A117.1 Accessibility Code to help establish the minimum provisions that will adequately protect public health, safety and welfare in our jurisdiction.
The following codes have been adopted by the City of Knoxville Inspections Bureau. These codes will be used to review and approve plans prior to issuance.
