Star 102.1 Boomsday and the city of Knoxville promise the same fireworks and fun on downtown Knoxville's waterfront Labor Day Weekend 2004, just on a more visitor-friendly day - Saturday, Sept. 4.
The move accommodates fans attending the University of Tennessee's home opener against UNLV on Sunday. Boomsday previously has been held on Mondays, but the sponsors had earlier moved the event to Sunday to make it easier for families with school-age children to attend.
Festivities will begin about 4 p.m. with food and drink vendors, entertainment booths, Funland, automotive displays and capped off with the largest fireworks display in the Southeast region.
An estimated 300,000 people are expected to attend the free event.
