Mayor Bill Haslam and Taylor Poling with the Knoxville Track Club will lead a short run/walk in downtown Friday to help celebrate National Run @ Work Day. The event is set for noon and will begin at the stage on Market Square Mall. The course covers a little more than 1.3 miles and anyone who wants to walk or run is welcome. This is the 2nd Annual National Run @ Work Day, an event created and promoted nationwide by the Road Runners Club of America. The Knoxville Track Club is the sponsor here in Knoxville. The aim of the event is to raise awareness about the importance of daily physical activity and there are Run @ Work Day events scheduled in communities across the country on Friday. The course starts at the stage and travels south through Market Square to Cumberland Avenue.
From there:
Take a left on Cumberland and run/walk to Gay Street
Right on Gay and go to the Gay Street Bridge
Left across Gay and then run/walk north up Gay Street to Summit Hill
Cross Gay (toward the visitor's center) and travel south on Gay to Clinch
Turn right on Clinch Avenue run/walk to Market Street
Take a right and return to the stage
