City to hold free Basketball League in the Park

Posted: 09/06/2007
The City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Division will host a free outdoor basketball 5-on-5 league in Harriet Tubman Park this fall. The league will be for adults and high school students and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 6 through October 11.

"Team leagues are a great way to encourage fitness and community comradery," said Sam Anderson, Senior Director of Community and Neighborhood Services. "We believe in offering free activities whenever possible so that everyone can enjoy them." Games will be self-officiated.

Participants may register at Cal Johnson Recreation Center from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. throughout the season.

First games will be played on September 6, 2007 at 6 p.m. For more information, please contact Vincent Brown at 865-215-1409.
