Hound Presented to Mayor Haslam

Posted: 01/16/2007
Mayor Haslam has been selected to be the official caretaker of "Town on the Hound" as a gift to the City of Knoxville in appreciation for support of the "Hounds on the Town" public art project.

Mike Hamilton - UT's Athletic Director and Eddie Mannis - Dogwood Arts Festival President of the Board presented "Town on the Hound" and adoption papers to Mayor Haslam on Tuesday, January 16.

The hound is one of the many larger than life fiberglass statues of hound dogs that decorated downtown Knoxville during the public art exhibit.

The exhibit showcased the talents of local artists and provided another cultural attraction for visitors to Knoxville.

The hounds were auctioned to raise money for Arts Education in Knox County Schools, Tennessee Athletic Scholarships, and the Dogwood Arts Festival.

Mayor Ragsdale was also presented with one of the Hounds. He is now the proud owner of "That's Knox Your Ordinary Dog."
