Possible Heavy Traffic Downtown Thursday

Posted: 04/25/2007
There is a potential for heavier than normal rush hour traffic in the area around the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum and the Knoxville Convention Center due to the "Get Motivated Seminars" scheduled for 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 26.

The "Get Motivated Seminars" is expected to draw between 7,000 to 10,000 people to the coliseum, with an overflow group at the convention center.

That means rush hour traffic - both morning and evening - may be heavier than usual particularly on Hall of Fame Drive, East Hill Avenue and Howard Baker Jr. Avenue.

POSSIBLE HEAVY TRAFFIC TIMES:

between 6:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

POSSIBLE HEAVY TRAFFIC LOCATIONS:

Hall of Fame Drive, Howard Baker Jr. Avenue and E. Hill Avenue around the Knoxville Coliseum and Henley Street near the convention center. Drivers who use those streets to access downtown Knoxville or the University of Tennessee area may want to consider an alternate route.
