The City of Knoxville will close the 100 Block of Gay Street at midnight on Thursday in preparation of Friday's "Block off the Night to Celebrate the Arts" party on the block.
Both Jackson Avenue and Summit Hill Drive will remain open to traffic.
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday night on the 100 Block and includes musical performances by various artists and booths.
It's also First Friday and galleries and shops along the 100 Block and across downtown will be open into the evening.
The event, sponsored by the city, celebrates the completion of the Gay Street Streetscapes Project late this summer.
