Movies on Market Square shows final movie on October 15

Posted: 10/12/2010
Knox County Public Library's outdoor movie series ends on Friday, October 15, 2010 with a finale showing of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film North By Northwest. The movie is free and open to the public; movie-goers should bring their own lawn chair or blanket. The movie will begin at dusk (just before 8:00).

North by Northwest is the story of a hapless New York advertising executive, played by Cary Grant, mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies, and is pursued across the country while he looks for a way to survive.

All of the movies in the series are family friendly, rated PG-13 or less, but movie-goers are encouraged to check out the movie to make sure it is right for their family.

Each year, the Library puts on Movies on Market Square to highlight its vast collection of film and music. Audiovisual items now account for just over half of all circulating items at Lawson McGhee Library. Last year, over 422,000 DVDs, CDs, and audio books were checked out throughout the county.

Movies on Market Square is made possible through the generous support of Comcast, Pilot, PetSafe, The Tomato Head, Downtown Knoxville, City People, the City of Knoxville, KUB, Magpies, Metro Pulse, WBIR, B97.5 and Lunar Cinemas.
