The Knoxville Police Department will conduct a free child car seat checkpoint on Saturday, January 10from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 917 E. Fifth Avenue.
According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 80% of all child restraints are used incorrectly.
During the KPD checkpoint, child car seats will be checked by a certified car seat technician.
The technicians will provide instructions and demonstrate the correct way to install your child's car seat.
Directions from I-40: Take exit 389 (Broadway - Hall of Fame Drive exit), Take Hall of Fame Drive toward downtown, Go 0.4 of a mile and turn left onto East Fifth Avenue at the Fraternal Order of Police Building, go 0.1 of a mile and turn left into the parking lot after going under the railroad trestle.

Future child safety seat checkpoints will be held February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12.
