KUB Contractor Working Overnight on Downtown Century II Utilities Project

Posted: 03/26/2015
KUB MapKUB's contractor, Garney Construction, will work overnight this Friday night, March 27, through the day Saturday, March 28, on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project.

Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27, a road closure of South Central Street (between Clinch Avenue and Main Street), Main Street (between South Central Street and South Gay Street), and Cumberland Avenue (between State Street and South Central Street) will be in place. Alternate routes include Clinch Avenue, State Street, West Summit Hill Drive, and South Gay Street. This is expected to last through 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28; however, if there are any unexpected delays in the work, this road closure could last beyond the designated time frame.

The work includes upgrading a large water main valve located under the on-ramp to the James White Parkway from State Street.

Downtown residents and visitors should expect noise in the immediate area associated with construction. Crews and construction related equipment will be visible in this area. Lighting equipment will also be placed in the construction zone, which may also be visible.

There will be no interruption of service to KUB customers during this work. KUB will continue to post regular updates throughout the project on its website at www.kub.org, and on the KUB Facebook page.

Additionally, KUB has set up a blog at http://downtowncentury2project.blogspot.com to keep customers informed about project milestones.

Customers can call 865-558-2330 after normal business hours to leave a message that will be followed-up with a call from a KUB representative by the end of the next business day.
