KUB Working Around the Clock to Restore Power

Posted: 02/17/2015
KUB officials report that about 11,000 of the utility's 194,568 electric customers remain without power - down from about 20,000 this morning.

Restoration work will continue today and Wednesday, with crews and contractors working rotating 16-hour shifts around the clock.

According to KUB in its latest update:

This has been an unusual event, because we continue to see damage even though the weather has passed. In fact, crews may get a section of line repaired only to have a limb or tree fall on another section of the same line.

We appreciate our customers' patience during this unique and challenging winter weather event. We are also extremely grateful that - so far - we have been able to restore power without any injuries, and we hope that will continue to be the case. The safety of our crews and customers are at the forefront of our restoration efforts.

KUB is focusing on jobs that restore power to large numbers of customers first, as well as prioritizing restoring power to customers who have been out the longest.

Meanwhile, KUB payment centers are closed today, but there will be no disconnections for non-payment. Customers can access their accounts and make payments online at www.KUB.org, or pay at any PaySite kiosks where locations are open.
