The Tennessee Department of Transportation has reopened access to South Hinton Road and Sullivan Road at Western Avenue as work continues on the state's widening of Western Avenue.
According to TDOT, "There will still be work on-going in the area. However, the reopening of these two roadway sections to Western Avenue will alleviate some of the traffic detours in the future. Also, we have accomplished paving along Western Avenue from west of Schaad Road to Sullivan Road. Even though the full roadway width has been paved through this section, there still remains work to be accomplished, such as sidewalk construction, street lighting, etc. Traffic will be allowed one lane of travel in each direction with a dedicated turn lane in the center, until such time as the final top surface of paving is applied next year.
Work will be ongoing through the winter months as weather allows."
