The City of Knoxville grants funds to housing organizations for construction of new affordable housing and rehab of existing affordable housing. These organizations include three community housing development organizations (CHDO's).
East Tennessee Housing Development Corporation (ETHDC) - 865-281-3130
ETHDC is dedicated to strengthening Knoxville neighborhoods through homeownership. They develop quality, affordable homes for low income families and individuals and empower low income residents through their financial coaching and mentoring program. They directly assist clients in qualifying for mortgages and secure down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible buyers.
Home Source East Tennessee - 865-637-1679
Home Source East Tennessee works to enhance communities through quality housing and building wealth through homeownership. Services include new construction of affordable homes, homebuyer education, financial assistance, and renovation of existing properties.
Neighborhood Housing, Inc. (NHI) - 865-524-2774, ext. 106
The mission of NHI is to promote healthy neighborhoods by providing good quality, affordable housing for low and moderate-income families. Strategies for this goal include minor home repair services and construction of new affordable homes, with financial assistance to purchasers.
This new home was a project of Home Source East Tennessee and was built by the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee.
