City Offices to Open Late, City Court Canceled, No Trash and Recycling Pickup

Posted: 01/18/2013
City of Knoxville offices will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18th, to allow employees ample time for the morning commute. Snow and icy roads have created hazardous travel conditions, and City of Knoxville employees are encouraged to use caution. Employees who cannot report to work are asked to use appropriate leave.

Knoxville City Court will not be in session on Friday, but the court office will be open. The public is asked to call City of Knoxville offices before coming to the City County Building for business.

Due to safety concerns and road conditions, the City's waste contractor will not be picking up trash or recycling today. Normal Friday pickup will take place Saturday instead.

Public Service crews worked through the night to treat streets and clear several downed trees in the wake of the season's first winter storm. Level I and II routes were re-treated overnight. To report hazardous conditions on city streets, call 311.

Public Service is prepared to deal with the inclement weather and has a snow plan intact. To review the plan, visit http://www.knoxvilletn.gov/government/city_departments_offices/public_service/ice_and_snow_removal
