Employee Honored For Work to Help Reduce Crime

Posted: 08/13/2014
August 13, 2014 - Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Sandra Hicks the May Civilian Employee of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Ms. Hicks is a crime analyst and has been with the department since March 2006.

Chief Rausch said traffic analysis is Ms. Hicks' primary job function within the Crime Analysis Unit (CAU). That includes reports on traffic crashes, DUI's, and fatalities. Ms. Hicks' reports helps to identify areas of concern for motorists' safety and traffic enforcement. In addition, Ms. Hicks creates the weekly download of information analysts utilize for patrol meetings. The reports help in identifying crime patterns and the need for specialized enforcement.

Ms. Hicks has voluntarily added responsibilities outside of her day to day duties. She has been vital in creating new reports which required her to take on additional self-training. She has gone above and beyond in researching the internet, books, and experts to overcome any issues in developing new crime reports.

Chief Rausch said, "Ms. Hicks is the go-to person for the unit. The high standard in her work ethic has supported the department's efforts in crime reduction. She is an exemplary employee and an asset to the department and the City of Knoxville."
