KUB Maintains Partial Closures On Sections of City Greenways

Posted: 08/28/2015
KUB and its contractor will maintain closures on sections of two City of Knoxville greenways located on the University of Tennessee campus as the natural gas distribution system in the area is upgraded through the end of September 2015.

KUB Partial Closures on Greenways

The Neyland Greenway closure involves a 2500-foot section of pathway between Third Creek and Joe Johnson Drive near the UT Botanical Gardens and UT Veterinarian Hospital. A detour is provided along Joe Johnson Drive to bypass the closed section and connect the Third Creek and Neyland Greenways.

The Third Creek Greenway closure involves a 2000-foot section of pathway from the area behind University Commons, through the UT Rugby Field area, and up to the culvert at the greenway entrance to Tyson Park. This section of greenway will also be closed through the end of September. A detour of this greenway is provided along Joe Johnson Drive to Neyland Drive, across Kingston Pike, and connecting to the Third Creek Greenway on Concord Street.

The parking area below TVA Greenhouses on the Agriculture Campus will also be impacted at various times throughout the project.  Impacts to parking areas will be coordinated with UT Parking and Facility Services.

The time frames for work and closures affecting both sections of these greenways are estimates, and may be impacted by conditions encountered during construction, as well as weather. KUB will issue follow up advisories for any work requiring the closure of either section of greenway beyond the communicated time frames.

The impacted sections of greenway will be closed continuously throughout the duration of the work in each area. KUB asks park patrons to please respect the signage and barricades in place, and to avoid this section of greenway due to ongoing excavation, as well as the presence of construction equipment, vehicles, and workers.

KUB thanks City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation for their assistance with this project, and its patrons for their ongoing cooperation. Customers with questions or concerns can call 558-2331. If calling after normal business hours, customers can leave a message that will be followed-up with a call from a KUB representative by the end of the next business day.
