The City of Knoxville’s Finance Department has been recognized with the “highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting” by a national organization.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City’s Finance Department due to its transparency and full disclosure in its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The department has received the award for the past 28 years.
Finance Director Jim York credits the expertise and dedication of his staff for the unbroken series of GFOA awards.
“This award is a testament to all of the hard work of the Finance Department staff,” York said. “I’m very proud of their exemplary work and the culture of openness and responsiveness that they demonstrate every day.”
