Mayor Bill Haslam and city Community and Neighborhood Services Director Sam Anderson announced today that the City Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the 2004 Challenge Grant Program.
A total of $25,000 is available for community clubs, homeowner associations, schools, scout troops and other non-profit organizations. The city will reimburse 50 percent of the cost of a single project up to $2,500. In the past, the grants have contributed to playground equipment, water fountains, benches and landscaping materials.Grant application and project parameters are available here or by calling the city's Department of Parks and Recreation at 865-215-2090.
