The city of Knoxville has joined with Knox County and nonprofit organizations to host the First Annual Neighborhood Conference on March 13 at the Knoxville Convention Center. The conference is aimed at community leaders and will include a variety of workshops ranging from zoning and codes enforcement to grant writing to working with the media. Keynote speaker will be Brenda Wynn, former director of the Metro Nashville Office of Neighborhoods and currently director of community outreach forU.S. Rep. Jim Cooper. Other sponsors of the event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., are the East Tennessee Community Design Center and the Center for Neighborhood Development.The conference is free, although registration is required by calling 865-215-HELP.
