Mayor Bill Haslam announced today he is recommending to City Council the appointment of J. Thomas Jones for a second term on the Knoxville Utilities Board's Board of Commissioners. Jones is a principal in the Knoxville law firm Jones, Meadows & Wall. A KUB commissioner since 1998, Jones is active in Leadership Knoxville, where he serves on the board of directors and chairs the curriculum committee. He served as chairman of the Knoxville Civil Service Merit Board from 1990 to 1997.
"Tom Jones' experience and abilities have served KUB well," Mayor Haslam said. "The organization will benefit by continuing his service for another term."
Bruce Anderson, chairman of the KUB Board of Commissioners, stated, "We have been so fortunate to have Tom Jones on the KUB Board these past seven years, and we are all pleased that Mayor Haslam has chosen to reappoint him for a second term."
KUB provides electric, gas, water and wastewater services to more than 400,000 customers in Knox and parts of seven surrounding counties.
