Knoxville now has its own Times Square-like message board - another way to keep visitors and residents apprised of what's going on in town.
The message board is across the the front of One Vision Plaza, Knoxville's new visitor center, located at Gay Street and Summit Hill Drive.
In addition to special events, the message board will also let locals know when conventions and conferences are coming to town.
Officials also announced Thursday the signing of three conferences for the Knoxville Convention Center.
They are:
Perennial Plant Association (PPA) - July 18-23, 2005
The PPA is dedicated to improving the perennial and horticulture industry through networking and education. The estimated attendance for the 2005 convention is 800 with a projected economic impact of $2.2 million.
Mathematical Association of America (MAA) - Aug. 7-12, 2006
The MMA is the largest professional society that focuses on undergraduate mathematics education. Membership consists of representatives from academia, government, business and industry. The 2006 convention will have an estimated attendance of 1,500 with a projected economic impact of $4.1 million.
Southeast Archaeological Conference (SEAC) - Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2007
The SEAC supports archeological research, collections, information management and technical support for national park units located in the southeast region of the National Park Service. The 2007 conference will have an estimated attendance of 650 and a projected economic impact of $1.2 million.
