Background: In November 2003, the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced that it would refer a proposed James White Parkway Extension back to local government officials for further review. A 30 member task force consisting of residents, business owners and interested citizens has met since March 2004 to examine transportation needs in the South Knox area and what impacts the extension would have. The task force has reviewed several options and would like public comment on the two most popular alternatives. Technical assistance and staff support has been provided by the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) and the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO).
