Mayor Bill Haslam announced today a $200,000 grant to the Wee Course at Williams Creek.
Mike Cooper, Southeast regional director of First Tee Program, is expected to attend the presentation at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Williams Creek where a fundraising tournament, sponsored by the city of Knoxville and Knox County, is being held.
The purpose of the First Tee Program at Williams Creek is to promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
The state-funded grant is being matched by $200,000 in private donations and will be used for capital and operational expenses at the 18-hole course located at 2351 Dandridge Ave.
