      Furniture Needed for Katrina Evacuees

      The Compassion Coalition has notified us that they currently need furniture for the Katrina evacuees.

      There are two locations listed below to donate furniture and more.
      COMPASSION COALITION'S FURNITURE WAREHOUSE

      Location: Cokesbury Center at 9915 Kingston Pike, across from Cokesbury UMC.
      Hours: Monday - Friday: 10am - 7pm, and Saturday 8:30am - 1pm; continuing for two weeks To donate furniture for Katrina victims you may drop it off at the warehouse. Volunteers will be there to receive the furniture and make it available to those in need. (Household items only, no office furniture please.) Tax receipts for donations are available.The following good, used furniture items are needed immediately. Please donate only items that are in pretty good shape.

      - dressers
      - beds (everything but king size)
      - chests of drawers, dressers
      - appliances (no built-ins, and must be in good working order)
      - kitchen or dining room tables and chairs
      - living room sofas and chairs
      - lamps, coffee tables, end tables, and other - furniture items to make a house a home

      ANGELIC MINISTRY CENTER

      Location: 1218 North Central
      Hours: Tue-Sat from 9-4 to receive donations

      The following good, used furniture and household items are needed immediately. Please donate only items that are in pretty good shape or new if noted below.

      Furniture: Beds (preferable twin or full), kitchen tables, chairs, sofas, refrigerators, washers/dryers, chest of drawers, dressers
      Linens: Sheets, pillows, towels, wash clothes
      Clothing: New socks and underwear (all sizes, both genders), men’s (any), women’s clothing (plus sizes only right now)
      Kitchen: Pots, pans, silverware, can openers, kitchen utensils, dishes, glasses
      Hygiene: diapers, baby wipes, shampoo, hand soap, lotions, toothpaste/brushes, mouthwash, brushes, combs, toilet paper
      Cleaning: Bleach, Pine Sol, Windex, paper towels, brooms/mops, 409, wash soap

      Donations can be delivered to either location, whichever is more convenient.

      Please know your donations will go directly at no cost to help those without resources to purchase furniture.
