Knoxville Zoo's Einstein flies the coop again - this time for "The Early Show" on CBS

Posted: 08/09/2005
Tune in to the "The Early Show" on CBS this Wednesday morning, Aug. 10, to watch Einstein, star of Knoxville Zoo's popular Bird Show, entertain another television audience.

Einstein, along with Stephanie White, Knoxville Zoo Lead Bird Show Trainer, will make a guest appearance on the show during the 8 a.m. hour. This is Einstein and Stephanie's second appearance on national television since July when they made an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and were a huge hit. There they shared the spotlight with TV star and comedian Roseanne Barr and 2005 American Idol runner-up Bo Bice.Einstein is a Congo African grey parrot that was hatched in California in 1987. The couple that owned Einstein donated her to Knoxville Zoo in 1992. Since then she has been the star of Knoxville Zoo&'s Bird Show and a popular "spokesbird" for the zoo. African grey parrots are one of the smartest bird species and are also known as one of the best talking / mimicking species. Einstein is extremely intelligent, even for an African grey. She has an extensive verbal vocabulary and is able to mimic animals and other sounds. It is believed her vocabulary exceeds 200 words and sounds. Of that, about 80 are on cue. Wish Einstein and Stephanie well as they represent Knoxville Zoo.
