Bike to Work Day is part of Smart Trips Week, from April 29 to May 6, which includes the Commuter Challenge. The Commuter Challenge is open to anyone who is willing to carpool, ride the bus, bike or walk to work at least once during Smart Trips Week. In return, challenge participants save money, help improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, and are entered into a raffle for some great prizes donated by local businesses. You can register online at www.knoxtrans.org.
For bike commuters who would like to freshen up before work, the downtown YMCA and YWCA are offering free showers for Commuter Challenge participants. Just show up between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., with copy of your Commuter Challenge registration form and photo identification.
