A public meeting will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15 to discuss new form-based coding - an alternative to traditional zoning - for the South Waterfront.
The meeting will specifically discuss the impact of the draft code for the South Waterfront on the Old Sevier and Scottish Pike neighborhoods. The meeting will be held at the South Waterfront Drop-In Center, located at 906 Sevier Ave.Form-based codes encourage a greater mix of uses and housing types and place stronger emphasis on the design of the public spaces than traditional zoning. The three-mile long South Waterfront has been divided into seven districts, with each district having its own opportunities, scale and character that should be preserved and enhanced with new development.
