Transit Center Public Meeting Scheduled

A public meeting is scheduled to review the design of the of planned Knoxville Station Transit Center on Thursday, January 26 at the East Tennessee History Center, 610 S. Gay Street.

The meeting will focus on the building's exterior, and follows a December meeting that reviewed the design plans for the center's interior.

Registration will open at 5 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5:30 p.m.The design team will make a presentation regarding the design, and those in attendance will be able to view renderings, ask questions and make comments. Comment cards will also be available.

Knoxville Station will be located on a block bounded by State Street, Commerce Avenue, S. Central Street and Union Avenue with a pedestrian connection to Gay Street. The station will house passenger waiting and transfer facilities for existing and proposed buses, and provide direct links to the trolley system, shuttles and taxi services. There is the potential for the development of other public-use facilities, and residential, retail and/or office space. Parking will be incorporated within the facility.
